Based on guidance just updated today from the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD), the timeline for isolation due to a positive COVID case and quarantine due to exposure has been reduced to five days.
Welcome back! As we get back into our routines, I want to highlight some important safety and COVID-19 updates and reminders. Learn more about the steps being taken to ensure the health and safety of our staff and students, including an important calendar change. STUDENTS WILL NOT REPORT TO SCHOOL ON FEBRUARY 23.
Any family that would like to change learning modalities for the second semester can submit a transfer request now through January 21, 2022.
Here at Clarkston Community Schools, nothing is more important than ensuring the safety of our students and staff. Safety is not something new for us; it has been a work in progress for years. Even with everything we’ve done and all that’s in place, I will be the first to acknowledge that I want to see more.
Each building has its own community, and within that, each classroom is a micro-community or family built on trust and care.Just like a family, our classrooms are comprised of many different personalities and different ways of coping. That is why coming together is the first step in our healing process.
The strong partnership we have with our families and staff is the glue that holds this district together, and your trust is something I don’t take for granted. Direct, transparent, and frequent communication has always been our priority and I will continue to keep you informed as we make every effort to keep our schools safe.
As we navigate through this year, we will continue to support our students academically while also focusing on their social-emotional well-being. We believe that students are more likely to succeed when they feel safe, accepted, and included.
Every decision we make in Clarkston Community Schools is designed to support student achievement. I am happy to report that we are already seeing progress in closing the achievement gaps and tackling the learning loss due to COVID.
